Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week, students put forth great effort to complete the NJGPA test. The students testing were prepared and timely each day and rooms remained quiet and focused while students were completing the test. The non-testing students were respectful in the hallways and flexible in adapting to the changes created by testing. Overall, we are very proud of our students. For those students who missed a day of testing this week, our counseling office will facilitate make up testing over the course of next week to ensure all students complete all portions of their test.
Please note that the testing windows for AP Testing and NJSLA are quickly approaching and will occur in the first three weeks of May. May 5-16 will be AP Testing for those who have registered to test. The rest of the school will operate on a normal schedule. May 20-23 9th and 11th graders as well as a number of students in other grade levels (based on their math and ELA classes) will complete the NJSLA test. Students will be at school during normal hours, but will have a modified schedule to accommodate our testing window. We will share more information in the upcoming weeks, but please avoid scheduling appointments for the mornings this week to ensure all students are available to test.
Have a great weekend, Dr. McCann

This online platform allows you to contribute by answering questions, sharing your thoughts, and rating the ideas of others. This feedback will be the foundation that will shape our new mission. We will host forums later in the spring to discuss the results and next steps. |

March can often be "test season" with various tests your teen/student might have so I thought it would be helpful to have a quick way to help them center themselves. “Focusing on our bodily sensations helps anchor us to the present moment. Since we always have our breath with us, it is something we can always use as a focusing point,” states the authors of DBT Skills in Schools, Mazza, Dexter-Mazza, Miller, Rathus, and Murphy, 2016, p.93. DBT, or dialectical behavior therapy helps people find ways to accept themselves, feel safe, and tolerate their emotions to help regulate potentially destructive or harmful behaviors. This breathing technique can help calm you, so you don’t act impulsively and also helps relieve anxiety. Here’s how it works: For one to two minutes, and with a “soft gaze”(looking down at nothing in particular), count 1 on the in-breath, then 2 on the out-breath, 3 on the in-breath and 4 on the out-breath, all the way to 10. When you get to 10, stop and begin counting at 1 again. If you lose count, just notice it and begin back at 1. If you notice that all of a sudden you are at 11, 18 or 24, just notice it, let it go and begin back at 1 again. If you notice your thoughts are drifting away from your breathing, just notice it and gently bring your attention back to your breath and counting. It is a great way for parents and teachers also to hit the pause button in the middle of a hectic day! |

Not sure if you ordered your student a yearbook this year? Here are three ways to check: Go to your email and search for ‘Jostens Order Confirmation’. Be sure the email/purchase date is from this school year (2024 - 2025). Go to www.jostens.com. Log in with the email you believe you used to purchase the yearbook. Click your name, then ‘Orders’ to see lifetime purchases for that account. Click ‘Receipt’ next to any purchase to verify that the order was for a yearbook and not an ad or other celebratory product. Again, please verify that the purchase date is from this school year (2024 – 2025). Click here to use the Jostens Order Lookup system. You will need to select our School and then enter your Student’s First Name, Last Name, and Grade. PLEASE NOTE: The system searches for exact matches. If you may have ordered under a child’s nickname, i.e. Ben instead of Benjamin, please try both names in the search fields.
Thank you so much for your support of our school and yearbook program. |
