| | Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to all those who joined us for conferences yesterday. It was great to see many parents in the building and virtually meeting with teachers in support of your children. We are excited to welcome you for additional conferences next Thursday night, November 14, 2024 from 6:30-8:30pm (link to sign ups below).
As we close out the first marking period, please remind your children to submit all outstanding assignments by Monday when the marking period closes. We will then move right into Quarter 2. As always, please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions regarding their grades or progress in courses.
Have a great rest of the week and weekend, Dr. McCann

Once you schedule your appointment(s), you will receive email confirmations with room locations for in-person appointments and Google Meet links for virtual appointments. These email confirmations will also have instructions should you need to cancel your appointment. | | | NB's High School Anchored for Life club teamed up with the middle school to celebrate our Veterans. In addition to placing flags outside on the front lawn, high school students were asked to submit a name of a friend or family member who is a veteran and to write their name on a red, white or blue star. These stars were then used to create the beautiful American Flag display as seen below. | | | Northern Burlington values all of our employees and is starting a new tradition of recognizing a support professional of the year.

Compared to a person with an ACE score of 0, a person with high numbers of ACES is nearly three times more likely to smoke and 30 times more likely to attempt suicide. Many of the participants were older than 60, showing that these childhood events were still affecting the physical body decades later. But here is where it gets interesting… -Childhood physical abuse–increased risk of lung cancer -Childhood sexual abuse–increased risk of cardiac disease -Childhood neglect–risk of diabetes and autoimmune disorders More than ⅔ of the population report at least one ACE and nearly a quarter have experienced three or more. The maximum is 10. Each type of trauma counts as one, regardless of how many times it happened. For the complete list of ACES and to take the quiz click this link. While this can seem daunting and out of our control, there is hope, even with these kinds of challenges. There are ways to heal some of these ACES through POSITIVE Childhood Experiences with connection and empathy and there is more about this included in the link above as well as in the flyer below: Flyer for PCANJ CM Trainings.pdf | | https://secure.acsevents.org/site/STR?pg=entry&fr_id=109671
