Teacher Appreciation

Notes of Appreciation: Teacher Appreciation Week is from May 6 to May 10.  This would be a perfect time to recognize our teachers with an encouraging email to express our gratitude for their efforts. Staff emails can be found on our website or via powerschool.  Email format is the first letter of their first name followed by their last name@nburlington.com, i.e jsmith@nburlington.com, or you can fill out the form below for each person you would like to recognize and a note will be generated and sent to them: Teacher Appreciation Form

Extended Learning Schedule Presentation

High School will be moving to a 4x4 extended learning schedule.  This will have four classes on one day (A day- periods 1, 3, 5 and 7) and the remaining four classes on the following day (B day- periods 2, 4, 6 and 8).  Each class will be approximately 80 minutes in length.

The HS will also be transitioning to one lunch period.  During the lunch time, there will be two separate opportunity periods that students can sign up for the scheduled activities.  Providing structured activities at the first half and second half of the lunch period will naturally create two separate lunch periods.  Lunch will be served for this entire period.

There will be a presentation on these changes at 6:00 pm on May 29 in the High School Main Cafeteria.  This will be right before the choral concert if you want to stay for that show.

Vaping Survey

Students in some of our G&T classes are learning how to incorporate research into a writing project.  As part of the project, they will be surveying the high school students on vaping.  This survey is voluntary, and no student will be required to participate.  The results of the survey will be used by the students in the class to support their project.  The administration will also use the data to learn about student perceptions, usage and ways that we can best support the current and future needs of our students.  Copy of survey link  https://forms.gle/otJhG3b8Ymeq6ywc6

Upcoming Assemblies:

May 24:

“After the Fire” Survivors of the Seton Hall fire will address the senior class periods 1-2 & 3-4.

Seniors should report directly to 404.

June 3:

Seniors during H/PE classes, LIFE, PEER

Arrive Alive Tour is a driving simulator company that will come to the school and offer seniors the opportunity to drive an actual vehicle that is outfitted to be a simulator and replicate driving drunk, high, or distracted driving. Students drive for 2 minutes and experience the chosen type of driving. Following their experience behind the wheel, seniors are issued a "citation" to see what that experience is like as well.

In honor of that I thought I would accentuate a few tools that we have right at our fingertips to monitor/improve our mental health:

  • The Health App on your iphone now has a mental health questionnaire that is quick yet thorough and gives you a snapshot of your mental health at the end with recommendations.

  • Insight Timer is a free app that has meditative music of all sorts as well as guided meditations that you can customize to your busy schedule with ones as short as 5 minutes.

  • The Calm App is $70 a year and many people say the cost is worth it

  • The Habit Rabbit App has a fun and interactive way to help you stick to good habits

  • 988- You can text, call or chat with a helpful counselor on this crisis Lifeline
