History of the Northern Burlington County Regional Hall of Fame
The Northern Burlington County Regional Hall of Fame was established two years before its inaugural induction ceremony in 2008. The founding committee consisted of individuals deeply connected to the Northern Burlington County Regional School District, all dedicated to honoring the past athletic achievements embedded in the “Greyhound Culture.” These devoted individuals included:
Dr. James Sarruda (Former Superintendent of Schools, 1993-2022)
Mr. Jack Lukis (Former Director of Athletics, 1983–2003, 2011)
Ms. Chris Haines (Former Director of Athletics, 2004–2011)
Mrs. Michele O’Neill (Administrative Assistant to the Director of Athletics, 1981–1990, 1994 – Present)
Mrs. Jane Humble, community member
Mr. Steve Makuka, community member
Mrs. Sue Makuka, community member
Mr. Ron VanSciver, community member
From 2006 to 2008, the committee gathered information from other area high schools with established Hall of Fame programs. After developing its bylaws, the committee held the first Northern Burlington County Regional Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2008. The event took place in the Northern Burlington Middle School atrium. Since then, the venue has changed over the years, moving to the Burlington Country Club, Old York Country Club, and, more recently, O’Connor’s, where inductees and community members gather to reminisce about Northern’s finest blue-and-grey athletic moments.
In 2023, the committee refocused its mission, developed a new Constitution and Bylaws, and in 2025, officially rebranded itself as the Northern Burlington County Regional Hall of Fame. This change expanded its scope to recognize not only outstanding athletic achievements but also distinguished professional accomplishments of Northern Burlington alumni. The current Northern Burlington County Regional Hall of Fame executive committee includes the following individuals:
Dr. Andrew Zuckerman (Superintendent of Schools)
Dr. Amy Stella (Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction)
Dr. Kaitlin McCann (High School Principal)
Dr. Daniel Uszaki (Director of Athletics)
Mrs. Michele O’Neill (Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director)
Mr. Arthur Gore, community member
Mr. Bob Dyson, community member
Mr. Bob Fegely, retired district employee
Ms. Chris Haines, retired district employee
Mr. Brian Wolverton, current district employee
Dr. James Sarruda, retired district employee
Mr. Gerry Spence, retired district employee and current Board of Education Member
Mr. Hank Kearns, retired district employee
Dr. Kelly Pagnotta, community member
Mr. Tom Ingling, community member
While committee membership has evolved over the years, its purpose remains the same: to honor individuals who have demonstrated superior athletic skill as a player or coach and/or have distinguished themselves through leadership, service, and commitment to Northern Burlington’s athletic programs.
It is with great pride that we celebrate our inductees and express gratitude to all who have contributed to the success of this Hall of Fame.
