Dear Parents and Guardians:

Here are the weekly updates from the middle school:

Federal Impact Aid Survey: This is the same message as last week, but it is important that we have every family complete the Federal Impact Aid Form so we are going to run this message for the next few weeks.  It just takes a few moments to fill out the Federal Impact Aid Survey on Power School and the form can be completed for siblings all at the same time.  Just be sure to log onto Power School using your parent account, not the student account.

(October 15, 2021 – October 29, 2021) Each fall, the Northern Burlington County Regional School District reaches out to all parents asking that they complete the Federal Impact Aid survey.  This is a very important document that needs to be completed in a timely manner.  To make this process more convenient for our families, this Federal Impact Aid survey can now be completed electronically.

The Northern Burlington County Regional School District must receive an annual signed survey from ALL parents or guardians for EACH student in order to receive federal funding of military affiliated students.

Please note that even if you are not active military or a civilian working on federal property, it is essential that ALL parents and guardians complete and sign this form as of October 15, 2021 and return by October 29, 2021.

Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal Property served by the district. Each year, Northern Burlington receives Federal Impact Aid funds because of your cooperation in returning these forms to us in a timely manner.

In order for our District to meet the filing deadline, we need to have the completed form(s) submitted no later than October 29, 2021, even if your employment does not fall within the categories listed on the survey.

Click  here to log into your PowerSchool parent account, once logged in click on the link from the left side of the webpage that says Forms and complete the “Title VIII Federal Impact Aid Survey” electronically.  A form needs to be submitted for each child, however if submitting for multiple children, please click the arrow up key next to the submit button. This will allow you to submit the form for each child without having to reproduce each survey selection.

Thank you for your continued support of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. If you have additional questions, please contact Jill Markley, Administrative Assistant, extension 2003 or Richard Kaz, School Business Administrator (609) 298-3900 extension 2080.

BookFair:  Next week the PTSC is hosting the fall Scholastic Book Fair.  It will run Monday through Friday during student lunches.  Students may bring money from home to make purchases.  Thank you to all the parent volunteers and the PTSC for making the book fair possible.

Winter Sports: The deadline to submit physical packets for winter sports is now past, and students who submit paperwork moving forward may not be cleared in time to participate in tryouts.  Nevertheless, the sports packets can be found at this link: Physical Packets for winter sports.    Please submit completed packets to MiddleSchoolAthletics@nburlington.com at your earliest convenience.   Middle school winter sports are cheerleading, basketball, and wrestling.

Middle School Movie Night: The Middle School Student Leaders are hosting a movie night on Friday, October 29 from 6:30 -8 pm. The event will be held outside (weather permitting), and the students may bring a towel or small blanket to sit on.  The event will be moved indoors in the case of inclement weather. The movie we will be viewing is The Nightmare Before Christmas, and tickets will be sold during lunches from Monday, October 25- Friday, October 29.  The $5 ticket is for snacks and drinks that will be provided, plus a donation to the Class of 2026 and the Class of 2027.  This event is for Northern Burlington Middle School students only, and no tickets will be sold at the door.

COVID Monitoring:  We continue to stress the importance of parents screening their children DAILY for symptoms before sending them to school.  Parents/caregivers should monitor their children for signs of illness every day as they are the front line for assessing illness in their children. Students who are sick should stay home from school and call the attendance line: 609.298.3900 x 4060.

In addition, the district manages a dashboard that is posted on our website to track COVID activity.

PTSC and Amazon Smile:  The Parent Teacher Student Connection (PTSC) has an Amazon Smile account for any community members who would like to support the PTSC while shopping online.  Simply go to http://smile.amazon.com  and search for the "Parent Teacher Student Connection" in the list of organizations (it is listed as being in Columbus, NJ) and then go through that portal to do your Amazon shopping.  Amazon will donate 0.5% of all purchases to the PTSC.  Please email nburlingtonptsc@gmail.com with any login questions.

Clinical Corner Spotlight:

  • Northern Burlington has partnered with Effective School Solutions and will be hosting virtual parent/community workshops.  Our next virtual session is Wednesday, October 27th from 6 to 7pm and you are invited to attend!  The presentation topic will be “Taking a Mental Health Pulse: Mental Health and Academic Re-Acclimationpresented by: Kristin Cline, LPC.  As students return and reacclimate to school, it is important that the caregivers in their lives understand the unique COVID related mental health responses and challenges that we all will face.  This workshop will assist caregivers in understanding these challenges and identifying students in need of additional supports. Participants will receive information on specific strategies they can engage that will help to support students (and themselves) throughout the re-acclimation process. No registration required. • Family Support Organization of Burlington County - Parents Helping Parents: In this group you will find parents who have walked in your shoes with similar experiences. Parents who understand the challenges of raising children. We offer valuable resources and a safe place to talk about concerns. Share new ideas and strategies. It is a place to celebrate triumphs and get or lend a shoulder to lean on when you need it. It takes a lot of support to transform lives, so take action with us. Starting now we will explore solutions together. We count on each other to listen openly and act with compassion and respect. What is said in the group stays in the group. We can help instill self-confidence to do things you never thought you could do.
