Each kit contains a toothbrush with travel cover, toothpaste and floss. Students can stop by the nurse to pick one up until April 15th. After that date, the remaining kits will be donated. | | April is dandy because it is Month of the Military Child. The dandelion is a symbol used to represent the resilience and adaptability of military children who, like dandelion seeds, are often uprooted and replanted across the world, yet thrive wherever they land. Purple is the color for Month of the Military Child, because it is a combination of all of the colors that represent the U.S Military forces blended together.
In honor of the Month of the Military Child at NB our morning announcements will be led by our Military Students. We will have a special get together for our Military Students on Thursday, April 10th to celebrate their adaptability, unique experiences, and resilience. NB is excited to Purple Up every Thursday throughout the month, and we will also have a school wide Purple Up Duck Hunt on Thursdays for all NB students. | | After spring break the high school is going to begin construction work on the auditorium. There may be construction traffic that interferes with the regular traffic flow. Please plan accordingly and be sure to allot extra time to arrive at school for parents who are dropping their children off to school. | | Senior Citizen Prom The annual Senior Citizen Prom will be held on Saturday, May 3rd from 1pm - 4pm. | | Happy April Fool's Day this week! People underestimate the power of humor and its effects on their mental health. In an article by the Mayo Clinic, “Stress Relief From Laughter? It’s No Joke”, it discusses how laughter is a great form of stress relief, among other positives. Drag your teens/students into this mission of laughing as well so they reap the benefits!
Laughter induces physical changes in your body. Short term benefits include: Stimulate organs-laughter enhances your intake of oxygen which stimulates organs and releases endorphins. Activate and relieve your stress response-Laughter fires up and then cools down your stress response which can give you a nice relaxed feeling. Soothe tension-Laughter can stimulate circulation and muscle relaxation which can help alleviate stress symptoms.
The article promotes laughter for the long haul. Here are some of the long term benefits: Improves your immune system-it reports that negative thoughts can decrease your immunity but on the contrary, positive thoughts and laughter can help prevent stress and more serious illnesses. Relieve pain-Laughter actually causes your body to release its own natural painkillers Increase personal satisfaction-Laughter can help you cope better and connect/bond with others. Improve your mood-Laughter can help decrease anxiety and depression, make you happier and improve your self-esteem.
How do you bring more laughter into your life? You can try to be around people who make you laugh, or put memories in your office or bedroom that make you chuckle when you remember them. Social media is good for funny memes or videos or you can peruse an old fashioned joke book. Lastly, laughter yoga has been around for a while, and while it may seem forced at first, it can turn into spontaneous laughter. So give laughter a try-especially if it has the power and potential to do all these good things! Might be a good day for a fun joke or prank! For the complete article, click here. | | | | |
