After that date, the remaining kits will be donated. | | April is dandy because it is Month of the Military Child. The dandelion is a symbol used to represent the resilience and adaptability of military children who, like dandelion seeds, are often uprooted and replanted across the world, yet thrive wherever they land. Purple is the color for Month of the Military Child, because it is a combination of all of the colors that represent the U.S Military forces blended together.
In honor of the Month of the Military Child at NB our morning announcements will be led by our Military Students. We will have a special get together for our Military Students on Thursday, April 10th to celebrate their adaptability, unique experiences, and resilience. NB is excited to Purple Up every Thursday throughout the month, and we will also have a school wide Purple Up Duck Hunt on Thursdays for all NB students. | | Senior Citizen Prom The annual Senior Citizen Prom will be held on Saturday, May 3rd from 1pm - 4pm. All of the students present entered their course requests in PowerSchool. Parents should be sure to review the requests with their child. Any questions, please contact the counseling office. Any changes must be made by March 17. After that date, the system will be locked and counselors will begin to meet with students individually to go over the requests. | | Spring is arriving in a few days! Which means it is a popular time to “spring clean”. This ritual is often good for our mental health as well as our living space! Even for teens, it can be a reset if they clean out and organize their room or workspace. Spring cleaning can offer a sense of control and empowerment, which can help reduce anxiety and depression. It may also allow us to feel a sense of accomplishment with the tasks we are able to complete. In order to avoid being overwhelmed, start with small tasks first. You might find that you are then motivated to tackle other tasks you have been putting off all winter. Here are some quick tips to share with your students/teen to help them benefit from some spring cleaning as well: Set realistic goals Don’t be afraid to ask for help Make it enjoyable-play music, listen to a podcast, invite a friend for company Take breaks-make sure to have good snacks handy to keep energy up Get outside-if you can’t do this, at least open some windows while you clean
