There are a variety of tasks in this project and we hope to involve as many students as possible with assignments ranging from sandwich making, to making flatware bundles, to packing boxes for delivery. To support this project, we are looking for donations. These donations can be “in kind” or cash. Please see the link to the sign up genius below if you wish to make a donation: https://tinyurl.com/NBTASK2025

Thanks in advance for everyone’s support. | | We're creating a new Mission Statement for our district and we need your help. A mission statement is used to explain the purpose of an organization. We're using a platform called ThoughtExchange to gather ideas from students, staff, and the community. What is ThoughtExchange? It's an online tool where you can: Why participate? Your input will directly shape the future of Northern Burlington! We want to create a Mission Statement that truly reflects what's important to you. How to participate: Use this link: Northern Burlington ThoughtExchange Link Follow the instructions to share your ideas and rate others. You can participate anytime over the next two weeks. We'll share the results and discuss next steps in the spring. Thank you for helping us build a better Northern Burlington! | | Thank you to the PTSC and all the volunteers for holding our book fair at the middle school this week. Thank you to those who made purchases as well. Happy reading! | | Last week, the middle school counselors met with all of the current seventh graders during their physical education classes to review course selection for next year. All of the students present entered their course requests in PowerSchool. Parents should be sure to review the requests with their child. Any questions, please contact the counseling office. Any changes must be made by March 17. After that date, the system will be locked and counselors will begin to meet with students individually to go over the requests. For reference, the middle school program of studies can be found at this LINK. | | The Middle School Student Leaders are planning a Fun Night on Friday, March 21, from 6:30-8:30 pm at the middle school. | | March can often be "test season" with various tests your teen/student might have so I thought it would be helpful to have a quick way to help them center themselves. “Focusing on our bodily sensations helps anchor us to the present moment. Since we always have our breath with us, it is something we can always use as a focusing point,” states the authors of DBT Skills in Schools, Mazza, Dexter-Mazza, Miller, Rathus, and Murphy, 2016, p.93. DBT, or dialectical behavior therapy helps people find ways to accept themselves, feel safe, and tolerate their emotions to help regulate potentially destructive or harmful behaviors. This breathing technique can help calm you, so you don’t act impulsively and also helps relieve anxiety. Here’s how it works: For one to two minutes, and with a “soft gaze”(looking down at nothing in particular), count 1 on the in-breath, then 2 on the out-breath, 3 on the in-breath and 4 on the out-breath, all the way to 10. When you get to 10, stop and begin counting at 1 again. If you lose count, just notice it and begin back at 1. If you notice that all of a sudden you are at 11, 18 or 24, just notice it, let it go and begin back at 1 again. If you notice your thoughts are drifting away from your breathing, just notice it and gently bring your attention back to your breath and counting. It is a great way for parents and teachers also to hit the pause button in the middle of a hectic day! | | | | Northern Football Boosters (w/ Cheer) is sponsoring our 4th Annual Bingo & Tricky Tray Event on Saturday March 8th @ 5:30 pm at the Middle School Cafetorium
