Here, once again, is the official notice…
October 15, 2024 – November 1, 2024 Each fall, the Northern Burlington County Regional School District reaches out to all parents asking that they complete the Federal Impact Aid survey. This is a very important document that needs to be completed in a timely manner. To make this process more convenient for our families, this Federal Impact Aid survey can be completed electronically. The Northern Burlington County Regional School District must receive an annual signed survey from ALL parents or guardians for EACH student in order to receive federal funding of military affiliated students. Please note that even if you are not active in the military or a civilian working on federal property, it is essential that ALL parents and guardians complete and sign this form as of October 15, 2024 by November 1, 2024. Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal Property served by the district. Each year, Northern Burlington receives Federal Impact Aid funds because of your cooperation in returning these forms to us in a timely manner. For our District to meet the filing deadline, we need to have the completed form(s) submitted no later than November 1, 2024, even if your employment does not fall within the categories listed on the survey. Please note, as of October 15, 2024 you will not be able to access your child(ren)’s grades until the survey form is completed so, please complete this electronic survey form in a timely fashion. Click here to log into your PowerSchool parent account, once logged in click on the link from the left side of the webpage that says Forms and complete the “Title VIII Federal Impact Aid Survey” for the current year, electronically. A form needs to be submitted for each child, however if submitting for multiple children, please click the arrow up key next to the submit button. This will allow you to submit the form for each child without having to reproduce each survey selection. Thank you for your continued support of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. If you have additional questions, please contact Jill Markley, Administrative Assistant, at (609) 298-3900, extension 2003 or Richard Kaz, School Business Administrator, extension 2080. | |

| | This coming Thursday is Halloween. Students should not wear costumes to school. Save them for a fun evening trick or treating with their family and friends.
Our school climate committee and the interdisciplinary teams are working on developing a team theme day to coincide with Halloween. Students are NOT to wear traditional costumes to school (save those types of costumes for any after school and evening events). Instead, we are going to have team competitions based on themes with the goal of building team spirit and solidarity. Each team is going to have a theme and each student is welcome to participate with their team. There will be prizes for the winning team.
The teams’ themes are listed below and typical school dress code applies as well as no masks, no face paint, and no hair coloring in school (they make a mess). Team teachers will provide additional information to the students. Dream Catchers Minions (yellow shirt, blue pants) Stars Holidays Wizards 101 Dalmatians

| | We are sharing an update relative to the naming convention of classes with in-class resource (ICR). The district recently received guidance from the New Jersey Department of Education relative to special education programs. Prior to this week, ICR sections listed the special education teacher as the “Lead Teacher” and content teacher listed as the “Co-Teacher”. Because the guidance indicates that, “the general education teacher shall have primary instructional responsibility for the student in an in-class resource program”, this has been modified in PowerSchool. For ICR sections, the content teacher is now termed “Lead Teacher” and the special education teacher is termed “Co-Teacher”. The ICR section of the pairing will be identified by the “I” at the end of the course number. This change only applies to the naming convention, all other components of our instructional practices remain the same. General education sections that are supported with ICR have the content teacher listed as the “Lead Teacher” and the special education teacher listed as the “Co-Teacher”. That naming convention will remain in place. Please contact your student’s case manager with questions. | | Dear NB Parents: Buddy Club needs your support. We are collecting gently worn, used, and new shoes (sneakers, sandals, boots, dress shoes, cleats, etc.) for our Shoe Drive Fundraiser! If you need assistance, please contact the Athletic Office at 609-298-3900, ext. 2093 or email moneill@nburlington.com | | Recently, the CDC conducted a study on Adverse Childhood Experiences, known as the ACE study and they found that there are direct correlations between unresolved childhood emotional trauma and several physical conditions like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, bone fractures, depression and drug use. Compared to a person with an ACE score of 0, a person with high numbers of ACES is nearly three times more likely to smoke and 30 times more likely to attempt suicide. Many of the participants were older than 60, showing that these childhood events were still affecting the physical body decades later. But here is where it gets interesting… -Childhood physical abuse–increased risk of lung cancer -Childhood sexual abuse–increased risk of cardiac disease -Childhood neglect–risk of diabetes and autoimmune disorders More than ⅔ of the population report at least one ACE and nearly a quarter have experienced three or more. The maximum is 10. Each type of trauma counts as one, regardless of how many times it happened. For the complete list of ACES and to take the quiz click this link. While this can seem daunting and out of our control, there is hope, even with these kinds of challenges. There are ways to heal some of these ACES through POSITIVE Childhood Experiences with connection and empathy and there is more about this included in the link above as well as in the flyer below: Flyer for PCANJ CM Trainings.pdf | | Andrew Kearns Andrew is using Smore to create beautiful newsletters |
