The week of October 7 is the statewide observance of Week of Respect. This is a time when all schools in New Jersey take time to engage with the students to encourage positive behavior between students and reduce (and hopefully eliminate) bullying. As part of the observance, the students in the middle school will have different activities during homeroom. To accommodate the activities, homeroom will be longer than normal during this week.
We will also be having dress up themes for each day in which students are invited to participate. See the picture for each day's theme.
Northern Burlington is a No Place for Hate school. We have received this recognition from the Anti-Defamation League. One of the activities is a pledge to create a positive, respectful environment in our school for all students. We will introduce that activity to our students during the Week of Respect. In the weeks to follow, students who wish, may sign the No Place for Hate school pledge.

September is complete and your students have successfully adjusted to their Middle School schedule. Please continue to assist them with the workload that goes with Middle School. Most students will have work to complete at home each evening. Sometimes it is completing what was not finished in class and sometimes it is assigned homework. This work is not optional and must be completed. Please connect with your child’s teacher(s) if you think the directions are unclear.

The first middle school dance of the year will be October 25. Looking to that date, here is some information about that dance (and dances, in general). Tickets will be sold in advance during the school day the week of the dance and no tickets will be sold at the door. In addition to a ticket, students must have their student ID to gain admittance to the dance. The dance is for Northern Burlington Middle School students only. The dance will be from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Students should not arrive early and rides should be ready to pick up students promptly at the end of the dance at 8:30 pm. Students must be in school the day of the dance in order to attend the dance. Students may use NB3 tickets to purchase a dance ticket with each NB3 ticket the equivalent of $1. NB3 tickets must be used to pay the entire cost of the ticket, and may not be combined with dollars (it makes the book keeping so much simpler).
We look forward to a fun evening for our students. It is important that they remember to be ready, respectful, and responsible so it is a positive experience for all of our students and staff. |

Parents are able to set up lunch accounts with money that their children may access to purchase lunch. Here is the LINK to the Pay Portal set up. Parents will need to refresh this money as their child uses it up to purchase lunch. Students access this money at lunch time using their identification card. It has the added feature that parents are able to track what items their son or daughter is purchasing for lunch. |
|
If you have not already done so, please complete a new lunch application for the 2024-2025 school year. Your child's lunch status remains the same eligibility from last year for free or reduced-price meals but will expire on 10/18/2024 unless a new application has been submitted prior to this date.
You can still reapply for benefits for this school year by completing the online application found at Online Free/Reduced Application Entry or turning in a paper application directly to the school.

September was Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and while there are a lot of resources out there for neuro-typical teens there is not a lot for teens with autism or other disabilities who might process feelings differently as well as present with symptoms in a unique way. That being said, it was exciting to see that the crisis line 988 has a question/answer fact sheet called 988 Information for the Autism Community. And while it is designated for that population, I think everyone would benefit from the extra information explained so one knows what to expect when they call. If you go to this website- www.autismcrisissupport.com, you will find not only that but a whole toolkit of resources on suicide prevention for the autism community. Please feel free to pass it on to anyone you think it would help. Hopefully there will be more things like this coming down the pike. |
