June 17: Early Dismissal -Students

Summer Assignments

Middle School Summer Enrichment: We strongly encourage students to remain sharp and continue to learn throughout the summer. There are many online resources to access as well as countless great books to read. Here is NB’s website for middle school summer enrichment.

High School Summer assignments for students taking high school Advanced Placement & Honors courses can be accessed HERE. These assignments are not optional and are expected to be completed by the first week of school. Here is NB’s website for high school summer assignments and reading.

Yearbooks

The 2024 yearbooks were distributed to students today who purchased them in advance. Please remind your child to put their name in it, and to use good judgment when signing yearbooks.

There are VERY FEW extra yearbooks available for purchase. They will be sold for $60 (CASH only) on Monday, June 17 starting at 7:00 am outside the main office, while supplies last.

Summer Construction

The middle school main entrance will be under construction for most of the summer. The district is installing a security vestibule. If you have a need to visit the school over the summer, the main entrance will be moved to the 8th grade bus entrance. Simply follow the signs posted to find the temporary school entrance.

Fall Sports for Students In High School and Middle School

Registration is now open for all incoming 9th-12th grade students in the 2024-25 school year who will be participating in a fall sport.

If your child is a returning athlete for Northern Burlington, please sign into your account using your username and password. Please DO NOT create a new account.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Michele O’Neill in the Athletic Office at moneill@nburlington.com or 609-298-3900, ext. 2093.

Registration for both middle school and high school sports are now open.

The NJDOE has updated the sport physical submission process. Beginning July 1st, parents/guardians may access the sports forms after logging in to their existing account or creating a new account (first-time users) on our electronic sports webpage https://northernburlington-ar.rschooltoday.com/ Step 4 within the box under heading "Physical Date".

You must complete the Preparticipation Physical Evaluation History Form, The Physical Examination Form and The Medical Eligibility Form. After your Doctor has cleared your student, the only required form for school sports is the Medical Eligibility Form AND any associated health plans such as an Asthma Treatment Plan or Epinephrine Action Plan, etc.

You may supply a copy of the history and physical paperwork to the school for your student's confidential medical file.

Chromebooks for Next Year

  • Class of 2029 (Current Seventh Graders): Students returning for eighth grade will keep their Chromebook over the summer and use it again in eighth grade.

  • Class of 2028 (Current Eighth Graders): Students had their Chromebooks and chargers collected on June 12 and 13 during PE classes. They received their new Chromebook and charger for high school. For those students with a Chromebook that was damaged and not usable, a new Chromebook was not issued and will not be issued until that financial obligation is paid in full. A fee of $35 will be assessed for chargers not returned.

  • For students leaving the district, regardless of grade, the Chromebook and charger issued must be returned to the school as part of the regular sign out process.

Clinical Corner

  • For the last Clinical Corner before summer break, I thought it would be helpful to have some ideas for how to maintain a little structure in your day so that coming back to school/work in September will not be such a brutal adjustment. I am not saying keep getting up at the crack of dawn but….perhaps try to incorporate these things into your days…

  • Try to keep to a morning or evening routine or both

  • Make an intentional list of things you would like to do/accomplish each week

  • Set time aside for hobbies or projects

  • Connect with people you don’t normally get a chance to

  • Have a brief family meeting to get your teen’s input as to what they think would be helpful

Try not to be too rigid or too loose with the schedule and remember summer is a time for fun so make sure that gets scheduled in there somewhere! Enjoy!

Expanded EBT Summer Benefits (Students Receiving Free or Reduced Lunch):

The NJDA has made the Summer PEBT program permanent, which means that our students that are receiving free and reduced lunch will be eligible to receive money during the summer for lunch. Please see the flier HERE for more information (and in Spanish HERE).

Bus Drivers Needed

Please see this FLIER from our transportation office. The district is looking for full and part time bus drivers. The job includes free training to earn CDL, as well as flexible hours. Feel free to share this flier with others who may be interested.
